Hear from current and former IWU Online MSM students:
"I had earned a BS from IWU several years prior. When I knew that I wanted to work on a Master's, I went to the IWU website to see if there was an online option. To my delight, there was! Because of my work I knew that it would be impossible for me to go to a classroom environment. My only option for the degree was to go online.
My motive was to become better equipped for future leadership within my organization, primarily in the areas of strategic planning. Changes in our world are laser-like and in my environment we need to be better prepared for making nimble strategic decisions. The knowledge gained from the degree program has better equipped me for these challenges.
I developed a routine of closing my office by 4:30 p.m. every day and converting it into a study room. By addressing assignments regularly and consistently and keeping focused upon the goal, I was able to endure. I also had the additional challenge of extensive travel and managed to take my laptop with me everywhere I went and completed many, many assignments from a hotel room.
On the whole, I was introduced to new levels of research via the World Wide Web, and I have found myself using the technology more in my daily work. Even though there was never a face-to-face learning environment with classmates or instructors, there were many friendships made over the extended timeframe of the course. When we did meet at the graduation, it was like a reunion. I cherish the experience.
Today I find myself drawing frequently from the well of knowledge gained. When I have a need to ponder critical decision making matters, I begin to recall much of the management information taken in through the eighteen months of study. Utilization of the Internet for research and fact-finding has also been an outcome of my studies. Within the past four months I have been asked to submit a reorganization plan for our National Headquarters. Many of the lessons learned from the degree program became very valuable to me in shaping my own response to this request. Some of my recommendations are now being applied.
I will and have encouraged many of my peers to consider the IWU Online experience."

"I chose IWU because of the quality, experience, reputation, and Christian focus. I believed having my Master's degree would provide me with an edge over my peers and allow me to continue growing within my company. When I started my Master's program, I had a two-month-old daughter and I was working 45-50 hours per week. I was able to manage my personal, work and school life by working my same type schedule. I would come home, spend time with the family until they went to bed, and then get online to go to class. Most of my work was completed during the hours of 10:00 pm and midnight. Being able to complete my degree without really disrupting any other aspect of my life and getting it done in 18 months was really special.
I believe my online learning experience has made me a better student and learner! People can really scrape by in a typical onsite class without always reading the material, but students in an online class must really read the material and be able to articulate it back through written communication to the other people in the class.
Today I have moved into a more responsible position with my company that provides me with the opportunity to expand and really move up to the next level within the next year!"

"With the online learning experience I got out of it exactly what I put into it. I learned much about myself and how I relate with others, where my strengths are and what I need to work on. I learned that I could push myself to get up earlier than normal to get my school work done. A supportive wife and kids enabled me to spend the time needed.
Today I have more confidence in my abilities and talents. I have kept up personal improvement. I have read several business books and used the library to find articles on management and leadership to continue to hone my skills and expand my ideas.
It has been said that every 3 years, one's intellectual skills become obsolete if not cultivated. The MSM program helped drive that point home for me and planted a seed that has bloomed into a flower. Not only have I learned new skills, I have been given new tools which will enable me to continue my learning."

"It gives me a sense of satisfaction just knowing I was able to obtain a degree. I either thought I was too old or too busy to go to school. I found out early on in the program that not only was I NOT too old, but I could find the time to do it if I wanted to. It allowed for doors to be opened that never would have been opened up before, and I have become a role model for my own children. I always advocated to them that they would go to college but it was something I had not done myself. They have watched me through this entire process from beginning to completion and they have developed a sense of pride right alongside me. It was a wonderful feeling to see my entire family there on commencement day knowing that they were able to share in the moment of success.
The online experience requires dedication and commitment on the part of the person who wants to complete their educational process using this format. You must maintain a strong sense of discipline using the online method. The online method, I think, allows you a greater opportunity to get to know the people that you are going through this process with more closely, so that what happens is you end up helping teach the courses as well as being taught in them.
This is a truly wonderful opportunity to allow the professional of today the opportunity to further their education while not requiring them to give their life away. This experience allowed me to fulfill personal goals and objectives that I had set for myself while still having time to spend on other areas of my life.
Today, having a college-level education has instilled a sense of great satisfaction simply knowing that I have accomplished this set of goals that I placed before me. This has been a wonderful experience that I have cherished. Along with my own personal feelings about having attained this goal, I am simply amazed at the opportunities that have been opened up to me from having accomplished this degree."
